Dance breathes life into L.A. Dance Project’s 10-year anniversary gala
The 10-year anniversary celebration of the Los Angeles Dance Project got off to a great start on Friday with a special presentation by its artistic director, Tom Daley. The former head of Disney’s Hollywood Bowl, Daley has a knack for bringing in stars to participate on the projects’ stage.
Among the many featured were a number of Broadway stars, including Renee Elise Goldsberry, Amanda Seyfried, Michael Chiklis and Christopher Jackson.
The L.A. Dance Project’s gala was held at the historic Paramount Ranch.
In addition to presenting the project’s 10-year anniversary gala, Daley also announced details of a new project for the company that will bring new kinds of dance and performance opportunities to the area.

L.A. Dance Project executive director Susan Schieker said she sees no reason why the current program will not continue to thrive under the new leadership.
“We are thrilled to welcome Susan Schieker and her team as we move into our 11th (year),” Daley said in his gala speech. “Your work on behalf of quality dance programming is an inspiration.”
Schieker’s arrival as the new executive director will lead to a new focus on dance events in the community and on college campuses.
“We have grown immensely, but we have never lost sight of the community we serve, nor of our mission,” Schieker said. “We are excited to join forces with L.A Dance Project for our 11th year and to add a new dimension to our programming.”
Schieker is also bringing a new executive director to the company. In addition to being in charge of dance programming, she is also expected to take a more proactive role in the project’s social and volunteer initiatives.
“I am very excited to be taking the reins and taking the lead in making the LDP an incredible resource for the City of Los Angeles,” Schieker said.
“I feel this is a perfect time for new initiatives for the LDP.”
